“Backstopping” your gift through an estate provision
Donors may want to ensure that their pledges to the University of Florida Foundation Inc., are fully supported and funded. One way of ensuring that these causes are supported is to establish a “backstop” in your estate provision. A “backstop” ensures that gifts through the estate will supplement the donor's gifts during life to reach a complete level of support.
To the extent I have not given the sum of $ __________ to the University of Florida Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization located in Gainesville, Florida, for (specific purpose/fund/pledge/endowment) during my lifetime, I leave the amount necessary to bring my total giving to this institution to that amount.
